Better Business Bureau Award goes to CFV
In these challenging times homebuyers are discovering more than ever the importance of who their builder REALLY is! In boom times and bust times, homebuyers always want to do business with a builder that has integrity, treats them with respect, keeps them informed and delivers quality in their homes, communities and service after the keys are delivered.
Since 1919 we've helped over 26,000 families with their housing needs. We've earned their trust and loyalty by focusing on what they need, providing providing value and by doing business with intergrity.
The St Louis Chapter of the Better Business Bureau recently celebrated 90 years in serving our local market and we at CF Vatterott were recognized for our long standing membership with this fine organization at their recent awards banquet. In fact, we joined the St Louis Chapter of the Better Business Bureau on December 12, 1960, which makes us the longest standing homebuilder BBB member in the St Louis marketplace!
The week of May 20-26 is being recognized as Better Business Bureau Week in proclamations by Gov. Matt Blunt, Mayor Francis Slay and St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley. The week commemorates the 90th anniversary of the BBB’s opening in St. Louis on
May 22, 1917.
When fraud in advertising became the focus of scrupulous business people in the early 1900s, they set up vigilance committees to self-monitor false and misleading advertising and avoid government intervention. The St. Louis Advertising Club’s vigilance committee was formed in 1915, but in 1917 the club separated the committee from the club itself, and the city’s Better Business Bureau was formed. It became one of the first bureaus in the United States.
Founding and current members of that organization, in addition to the Advertising Club, were: St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Brown Shoe Company, Ludwig-Aeolian and May Company, now part of Macy’s.
Today this BBB, ranks 15th in size, but ranks second nationally among 134 BBBs, for alternative dispute resolution services (mediation, and arbitration); only the New York City BBB ranks higher. This BBB also ranks fifth nationally for its advertising review service, and fifth for the number of trade practice investigations. During 2006 the organization provided over 12.8 million instances of service for businesses and consumers in this region, including the handling of 23,000 consumer complaints.
Since 2001 the organization, which serves 99 counties in Missouri and Illinois, has grown from 1,800 to almost 5,000 members. Business members enjoy such services as monthly seminars on topics relevant to business including customer service, business ethics and employee benefits. This program has proven so successful that representatives of 20 other BBBs came to St. Louis to learn how to implement similar programs in their organizations.
